B.C. talks to burgeoning band SMUT, fresh out of Cincinnati’s rich music scene.
1. Can you list the full names of each band member and each give me a short bio on yourselves:
Taylor Roebuck (Singer, Aquarius, Owns Myspace)
Andrew Glover (Guitar, Scorpio, 12-year-old Best-Selling Author)
Sam Ruschman (Guitar, Aries, Magic: The Gathering Champ 3 years running)
Chris Campbell (Drums, Sagittarius, Discovered he was a ghost in 2002 and has been living a lie ever since)
Erich Mukuda (Bass, Pisces, Cannot pronounce the word “chips”)

2. Can you describe your sound?
Andrew: noise pop bitchgaze
3. What are your influences?
a: Lou Barlow, t: T.O.P., s: Paul Westerburg, e: Stephen Malkmus, c: Milford Graves
4. Describe your new album. How is it different than your older one?
a: We took waaaay more time on it, and it’s a lot poppier and also a lot less pent up; more sprawling?
5. What separates you from other bands that are similar?
6. What are some of the themes/topics you sing about?
t: Mostly water, some romantic murder bits and wanting to be abducted by aliens.
7. How do you feel about the Cincinnati music scene in general?

t: Dayton Ladyfest on September 29th. We’re playing with Speedy Ortiz on September 14. A tour is being planned for the East in the fall!
